School for Advanced Studies (SAS)
Our recent designation as a School for Advanced Studies (SAS), underscore our commitment to nurturing gifted and talented students. We offer Honors classes in all three grade levels and technology is incorporated in all classrooms to enhance teaching and learning. In the 8th grade we offer students the opportunity to take two math classes: Honors Accelerated Math 8 and Algebra 1. Students also have an opportunity to take computer science as an elective class. Our teachers are specifically trained to meet the emotional, psychological, and academic needs of gifted learners. All of our teachers participate in a variety of trainings, including AVID training which supports teachers with incorporating writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading (WICOR) strategies to help students be ready for high school, and prepare for college and/or a career.
